SAFE PERRAS

Safe Nightlife Space for Women

BRAND IDENTITY · NAMING

Safe nighttime leisure space

The various forms of sexual violence that women may experience throughout a night range from continuous and unwelcome stares to sexual assault, including sexist comments, non-consensual physical approaches, or unwanted touching.

"Safe Perras" emerges as an alternative nightlife option where women can have fun and feel secure. The communication focuses on stating how we do want to live our nights to make everyone aware of the impact of their actions and to ensure they have the other person's consent before initiating any form of approach.

Additionally, we advocate for sexism-free music and showcase female artists who may not typically receive the recognition they deserve in this industry.

Every month, we share a fanzine that helps us discuss our values and better explain our space. In these fanzines, we combine puzzles and articles.

The purpose of this editorial is to shed light on normalized situations that prevent women from enjoying our nighttime leisure peacefully, through games that encourage visual and entertaining reflection.

Comida para perras

This snack is for that moment when you leave the nightclub. We want women to stop being perceived as products, to respect our space, and our right to dance without hearing offensive comments, unwanted contact, or any form of discrimination.

We designed t-shirts for both the STAFF and people who share our philosophy, with which we build a community committed to creating a safe space. Being a "safe perra" means that you will be aware of your actions and mindful of making sure no one feels uncomfortable. Together, we create a safe space.

SAFE ≠ PERRAS

Naming

The name "Safe Perras" plays with the contrast between safety and aggressiveness, conveying a strong and clear message. It merges two seemingly opposite elements to create a powerful and distinctive name. The word "Safe" reflects the commitment to providing a safe environment, while the word "Perras" introduces an element of aggression and determination.

In this context, it is used to communicate that, even though the environment is safe and friendly, the women participating are empowered and ready to defend their space. The word "Perras" here is not interpreted as a negative term but rather as a symbol of strength and autonomy. Instead of being passive in the face of unwanted attitudes, the women participating in "Safe Perras" are willing to symbolically 'bite', meaning to take firm action against any behavior that threatens the safety or positive atmosphere.
